Great list :)

If you have jolicy windows - those annoying slatted ones that never keep anything out - cutting a piece of insulation foam to size and popping it in the window really helps. We save about $60/month in the winter from using this simple $8 piece of foam. [and we don't have to hear the neighbors or collect bugs] The web link is a picture of ours.

Dieting doesn't mean you're going to spend less money. Assuming people start eating better (as opposed to eating less), they're going to spend their food budget on fruits, veggies and other real food as opposed to processed crap. Often, that ends up being more expensive.

I don't know about you, but exercising often makes me hungrier, not less hungry. I eat better as a result of exercising, but I still need a midday snack.

I couldn't agree more with quitting smoking to save money. I think packs these days goes upwards into the $7-$9 range for most places across the country.

I am planning to hit the stores this week to purchase deeply-discounted Halloween costumes and then give them to my kids, niece, and nephew for Christmas. Depending on whether I can get the 75% or 90% rate, they will have great dress-up clothes for the next year!

Strangely, you advocate a number of the same tenets of veganism (whole foods, fruit & veg, unprocessed food) yet you refer to them as "fanatics". Most vegans eat exceptionally well and while this diet is restrictive it is very healthy and really delicious.

Where I live, taking a shuttle to and from the airport is much costlier than parking in the farthest airport "value" lots. Shuttles run from the terminal to these lots frequently, and this saves time too over the shuttles that take people home since I always seem to be the last one dropped off--and the trip takes forever. It's worth checking into parking options at the airport as some have value lots such as those here in South Florida.
