Pending e-payment… hurrah!

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

The third book buyback company just sent me an email that they issued an e-check for $21.62 to my paypal account.  Why they couldn’t do an instant transfer of funds I have no idea other than to be annoying, but, whatever.  I’ll still get the money, just not for a few days.  And then a few more days to transfer it from my paypal account to my bank account.  This payment might count for August snowflaking after all by the time I can get my proverbial hands on it.

I also deposited the checks for the other two book buybacks I still had out there, for a total of $55.54.  When that deposit changes from pending in my online bank account to cleared, I’ll snowflake that amount to  Capital One.

Snow snow everywhere…. but it is about to dry up.  Need to get on the ball about finding some more stuff to sell.  I did find one textbook I can sell for $1, but $1 barely seems worth it to package it up and send it.  So I am looking for another textbook or two the same company will buy to send all together.  Haven’t found one quite yet.

Paid my penance

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Snowflaked $18.85 to the credit card this morning and finished reading Harry Potter.  I think I’ll start over from book 1 now and read them all again, but not so quickly this time ;) .

I looked at our checking account and subtracted stuff I need to pay this week and also what hasn’t shown up yet, and estimated groceries for the week, and we’ll be again hovering around that $100 mark left over ’til my spouse gets paid Friday.  Hopefully this week will go better than last week in terms of transferring anything from savings.  Although I did get to transfer it all back the next day.  I’ll be tracking the checking account pretty closely though I think for the next 6 days.

Grocery shopping this afternoon, I’m actually looking forward to the challenge.  It’ll be an adventure, the list somehow seems huge this week.  :nervous:  At least I still don’t need to buy dinner meat, and my son and I are drinking milk slowly lately it seems so only my spouse needs milk.  Maybe there will be some good discounts out there to find.

I am weak.

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

I just bought Harry Potter Year 7.

I must go to bed now for I have a tournament tomorrow, but I had a plan to pay very little for it at Barnes and Noble using a merchandise return gift card but the line was insane and I would have been there more than 2 hours they estimated so I went across the street and bought it at 12:15  at Walmart.

:sigh:

Well, I’ll be snowflaking $18.85 to the credit card tomorrow when I get home from the tourney.  I am so weak.  I should have just bought it tomorrow evening at Barnes and Noble but I had my heart set on reading it in the car tomorrow traveling to and from the tournament (4 hour round trip).

I am weak.  No regrets yet though.  Maybe they’ll hit me after I get some sleep.

Snowflake penance for the herbal iced tea

Monday, July 16th, 2007

As I wrote about a few weeks ago, when I splurge on something completely unnecessary, I make a payment of the equal amount to my credit card as “penance” for it. The justification to me is that if I can afford to spend money frivolously, I can also afford to pay off my credit card that much faster.

The past few weeks of grocery shopping that I have chronicled on the blog, I have had several small purchases not on my shopping list, but all of them thus far were justifiable in the grander scheme of things (taking advantage of a sale and buying an item I would otherwise have to pay much more for a few weeks later, for example) . Until the herbal iced tea this week.

I admit. I have a serious weakness for Arizona Herbal Iced Tea. It is full of yummy goodness and when Walmart has the monstrous display of the liter bottles on sale…. I find them very very hard to resist.

The iced tea cost $0.98 but it is a taxable item (bah) so my actual cost was $1.04. So this morning when I woke up the first thing I did was logged onto Capital One and made a payment of $1.04.

I wish I had some iced tea left to celebrate with. ;)

Credit Card Numbers update

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

I did indeed pay the Capital One this morning, so I am going to update that number. I am going to pay the two student loans today but they won’t get updated on their website til at least Monday, and I also will not drop off the car payment and get the updated number there til next week, so I’ll do the full update then. But…

I just HAVE to do this one because the balance now begins with a 5 instead of a 6. :cheer:

Balance at start of this billing cycle: $6161.10

Balance before today’s payment: $6049.10

Payment today: $230.97 ($200 standard monthly payment which included the $123 minimum payment; $27.97 from textbook sale; $3 from craigslist sale)

Current updated balance: $5818.13

Amount snowflaked in this payment: $107.97

Snowflake total for this billing cycle: $219.97

Total paid this billing cycle to Capital One: $ 342.97

Since my goal is to pay $300 per billing cycle….. hurrah!!!

:cheer:
