The Corolla Turns 200,000 Today
We have two cars in our family - a 2001 Saturn L-Series that I generally drive and my spouse and I bought together in 2004, and a 1996 Toyota Corolla that my spouse generally drives and he bought used shortly before he met me. We only have one set of carseats for the kids, and I dislike moving the carseats back and forth between the two cars, so they generally stay in the Saturn. Since my spouse needs to drive the kids to and from taekwondo on Tuesdays and Fridays for my son’s class, we switch cars those evenings and I drive the Corolla to work and back.
Last night I drove the Corolla home, and I noticed as I got out of the car that the mileage was 199,997. I knew it was fast approaching the 200K mark, but I hadn’t realized it was on the verge. My spouse took the car to work this morning, so I am sure that today it passed the 200,000 mile milestone.
Congrats little car that could! We are hopeful that this doesn’t mark the beginning of the end for our car, but just another marker in a happy long life. And when we do need to replace a car (in the hopefully far future) we’ll be more prepared that we’ve been in the past, no matter when it happens. Here’s to another 100,000 miles. ![]()

Congratulations! If you take good care of it, you could very well get another 200 out of it.

My 19 year old has a 1996 Honda Accord that she bought used 3 years ago. It is in good condition with over 200,000 miles!

Hooray for Corollas!
I’m sure your car has plenty more life left in it. I used to have a 1996 Corolla that I traded in around 190K miles, and then I missed that car so much I got another one! I now have a 1993 Corolla with only 165K miles. Sure the headliner’s falling down, but I bet the engine will still be running for years to come.

My toyota has another 10 000 to go before reaching the 200 000 milestone. It is still going strong and with regular services, I cannot see myself buying a new car anytime soon.

Congratulations on hitting 200k!
I’ll add a long-running domestic into the mix - my husband’s 99 Ford Mustang is still running at 210k+ miles on it. It’s only had a few minor repair issues in the past few years. We will be replacing it next year though. We want something with 4 doors and better fuel economy (though he averages 22mpg).

My 2000 Honda Civic just turned 200,000 miles this past weekend… isn’t it funny how you almost feel a sense of pride about it! That Honda was probably one of the best purchases I’ve ever made, and it sounds like your Corolla falls into that category, too!
Congrats, and keep on drivin’!

Congratulations! I have always sworn by Toyotas. I have a 1992 pickup truck that is pushing 276,000 miles now, and I fully expect to get 400K because I know of a few other people who have gotten that.
Not too darned bad for a truck I paid $1. for! True, it does not get the best mileage, it doesn’t look like much, one year a deer ran into one side of the vehicle and the following year another deer ran into the opposite side of it, so now the truck looks like it’s got a pinched waist, but it’s paid for.

WOW, congrats. It’s always good to hear such great news.
We had an old Ford Contour we were hoping would make it but it crapped out on us at 130,000 and it needed 2x it’s value in repairs and wasn’t that reliable, so a new car came to be. We’re treating it nicely hoping it will last that long. We also have a MINI Cooper that we’re hoping will last that long as well (We’ve heard good things about the lasting quality of those little cars).

Wow! I was all proud of my 230K miles on our 95 Civic hatchback. It is obvious that Toyota makes a great car just from reading these comments. Honda makes a pretty good one too. We are hoping to get another year or so out of our Honda, then we will probably replace it with another civic or something similar.

We have a 1989 Toyota we just passed on to our 16 year old! Those cars last forever!

We have been real bozos on cars, wasting a lot of money on them over the past 10 years.
Posts like yours have inspired us and our present Camry (at 108,000 kms now) will be kept and maintained well for the next 400k kms.
