Maybe you could consider keeping $1500 in ER savings. That way it won't be wiped out if there is a big ticket emergency. You'll have some leeway if the other shoe drops.

lol, at 30 degrees celsius, you'd have a lot more problems than soft ice cream. That is equivalent to about 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm so glad that your freezer is fine - what a relief!

But isn't it interesting how quickly your mind starts going as to how you are going to make something work? I'm sure that in those ten minutes, you'd recalculated all kinds of things!

So glad it lives another day!

For what it's worth, my freezer is 0 degrees, the food compartment is 38 degrees.

I hope mine lasts 23 years!

Hmm. Uh oh! Look how I was accidentally right anyway...

But reading those links, I didn't follow the directions, I just stuck the thermometer in the open air and definitely didn't wait 5-8 hours. So I just shoved the thermometer between two packages of frozen food just now and shall check on it later tonight. Hopefully it goes to 0 degrees. Otherwise I can turn it down some more, I think, I don't think it is the lowest setting yet.

Thanks!
