Finance, Frugality, and Stories - The Carnivals

It has been a crazy carnival-hosting place here the past few weeks. I volunteered to host a few carnivals and somehow they all got assigned to me in the same few week period! But that’s okay, I had fun and found some great new blogs I hadn’t seen before to boot. I hope you did too!

As far as I know, I’m not hosting anything else for another month at least, so instead we’ll just have to see what the carnivals out on other sites have to offer. :) Even in the midst of carnival-hosting madness, I managed to enter three carnivals this week, so let’s see what we can find there. :)

The Carnival of Personal Finance is at The Financial Blogger and is the Prison Break edition. I’ve never seen the show - I think it is on HBO and we only have very basic cable - but I hear it is good! My post How Loudly Does Fear Speak was included. I really liked this post:

  • Blunt Money: The Car I Didn’t Buy. I have a car I probably shouldn’t have bought in my past… but I *did* buy it. And no, not the one I have now, blown engine and all…

The Festival of Frugality was at Might Bargain Hunter and my post on starting now for next year’s Valentine’s Day was included. :) Start now! Cheap kids cards galore! This post was timely for me:

  • Be Thrifty Like Us: You Don’t Always Need The Latest and Greatest. We, of course, have the latest and greatest… nothing. I have been thinking about that lately because my brother has about 40 HD-DVDs, and now “BluRay” has won the technology war and HD-DVDs are going the way of the Beta. He picked the wrong one. We - have neither. And probably won’t for a loooong time. Heh. It is good to be broke sometimes.

The Carnival of Money Stories was at College of Cash and my story about cleaning my dryer vent was included! Funny thing - that little laundry nook is now practically the warmest room in the house - thanks to me finding and stopping the little vent leak. These stories appealed especially to me:

  • If I Were Debt Free: What I Sent My Credit Card For Valentines Day. Ahhhhh snowflakes!! Check out the snowflake and congratulate them on their progress!
  • Money Blue Book: Melting Pot Memories Are Expensive But Worth It. Seriously, I am SO glad I do not live near a Melting Pot. Oh, and that I have two small kids. I have been there a few times, long long ago when I was dating a boy who lived in a city with one (not the spouse, the one before the spouse lol) and… oh my that place is YUMMY. I still think about the food there once in a while…

Be sure to visit the carnivals and choose your own favorites! Thanks to all the hosts for including my entries!

  1. Thanks for the plug.
And I have to agree about the Melting Pot=yummy. We have one..maybe even two TOO close, but thankfully have not been foolish enough to even think we could go-recently. we’re probably still paying off the last 3 visits from a few years ago!

  2. Prison Break is on Fox. The just finished the season this week. I liked your post a lot. I don’t have kids, but fear has made me drag my feet as well.

  3. Fox! Hey I get that channel. lol. Shows you what I know, heh.

  4. Hi PT,
You know, because customers pay so much for their dinner at Melting Pot, the restaurant is very willing to please. One of the times I was there I kept asking for plates of large shrimp for fondue dipping and they kept bringing them out for free. I was in culinary heaven much to my date’s amusement. The best part is that fondue is not terribly filling..it’s rather light.

  5. Thanks for the link!

  6. I hope you get some good traffic with your Carnivals. You might want to try the Festival of Frugality as well. I am having some great success with that one.

  7. Looks like you did try that one! Did you have success with it as well?

  8. Thanks for the mention :)
