Frugality and a Bedtime Story - The Carnivals
The Festival of Frugality made its way to On Financial Success this week, a blog that is fairly new to me but I really like the look of. My article on Paying For Experiences Instead of Items made the cut, and I also found these articles full of great thoughts and information:
- The Financial Blogger: Will I Regret It? This is a great story about how to ask yourself when the choice is worth the monetary sacrifice. We only live once, after all. It fits so well with my musing nature I had to highlight it.
- Life Lessons of a Military Wife: Do I Want It Or Need It? I still think this through, a lot. She has some great tips for sorting it out!
And the Carnival of Money Stories was at Plonkee Money, and she did an awesome job of weaving the majority of the entries into a bedtime story. Cool! I love a good story. My entry about our Frugal Evening Out was included, and I also enjoyed these tales:
- Are You Going To Be This Way…: Counting Chickens and Eggs and Christmas Bonuses. Honestly, I’ve done this, I still do this, and I am doing this right now. The whole car repair financing is dependent on us being able to pay it off in three months or less, which depends on future income to solve past problems. I hate doing this. But yet, I still sometimes choose to. Hoping to get past that someday…
- Money Blue Book: I Remember Breaking Past the $10000 Savings Mark. I. Want. To. Be. Here. Can’t wait. Enough said.
Thanks so much to the hosts who included my entries in their awesome carnivals and make sure to visit them and give them a shout out! Wouldn’t it be funny if their comments were filled with “I saw this on PaidTwice!” ![]()

You know, I always thought the $10,000 hurdle was a entry level financial hurdle but I’m starting to realize that for many it’s actually a target still looming in the future…perhaps someone should write a post about wanting to approach this symbolic milestone from the perspective of someone almost there but not yet. I’m glad you liked that article. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad to count those chickens, but since that day was a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally bad day for chickens I was caught off guard. In all honesty I’ll likely still count chickens, too. I just won’t name then and find them homes.
