Sunday Morning Link Love - Cold Edition
It is very very cold here. I don’t mind chilly but I am not a huge fan of cold. Luckily, we have a $123 credit on our gas bill, so I am hoping that we don’t have to pay anything in December. January however, will be another story. Need to go put plastic over the garage windows so the water heater pipes don’t freeze like last year… nothing like buying a house and a week later (before you’ve even moved in) having a pipe freeze and ultimately burst. Fun times….
Grab some hot cocoa and settle in for some good reading from around the web this week!
My Two Dollars: Ten Jobs You Can Do From The Comfort Of Your Home. As most of you know, I worked from home for the past 4 years and I am gearing up to do it again. It isn’t always the easiest or most profitable route but it fits with my current life plan. Here are some fields to help you get started looking if it is in your life plan too.
Gather Little By Little: Money Saving Money Tip #18: Buy Generics. Generics rule. Generally, at least. Generics have always been a part of my lifestyle so it wasn’t a new frugal change for me but it does save money!
Moolanomy: Seven Steps Debt Reduction Illustrated. Pinyo shows how to get those cards in line and pay them off for once and for all! With a little editorial help from me
.
Remodeling This Life: Ten Ways To Simplify Your Life. I really need to start doing #10 more often. This is a really great list.
No Credit Needed: Making a Break with the Past - Changing Habits and Thinking Long Term About Personal Finances. I was in this same place not so long ago. I didn’t really know anything and I thought I didn’t need to. Changing my attitude and changing my approach has really truly changed my entire life.
The Simple Dollar: Simple Frugality By The Hourly Rate. I have been thinking a lot about this (how much frugality really saves) as well as the companion in my mind to it - what tradeoffs cost vs what they save over the alternatives - basically where the most frugal bang for the buck is. Expect a post on that soon as it mills around in my brain and eventually lands on (virtual) paper.
And in the PaidTwice rewind, the end of my own balance transferring adventure: The Feeling of Seeing the Balance Transfer Complete. This was one of the big turning points for me in realizing - I WILL pay this off. I WILL be debt free someday. And someday keeps approaching faster and faster.

I feel you on the pipe freezing. I came home from a business trip last year to find 3″ of standing water downstairs. That is something I really don’t want to have happen again this year.
