Mix Tapes - Festivus Carnivus Galore

This week at the Festival of Frugality, Kris at Cheap Healthy Good wrote the “Mix Tape” edition, where she matched each of the entries with an appropriate song. I used to make mix tapes all the time when I was in high school and college - I have many fond memories of this. Ahhh…. :cheerful:. This makes me happy. My entry Using That Turkey For All It’s Worth was awarded Adam Sandler’s Thanksgiving Song. Yay! Some other fun entries include:

  • Frugal Babe: A Super-Frugal Scrapbook Nook. Jealous. I am jealous. Although I do have an area for scrapbooking in my house, I just never get time to use it. So not *completely* jealous. But still jealous. :)
  • My Dollar Plan: Selling Coupons on eBay. I also get a ton of coupons in the mail and don’t use them. You’d think I would have thought of this because I have bought coupons on EBay myself, but it never occurred to me. I am going to watch the mail from now on…

The Carnival of Personal Finance is at Stock Trading To Go and is full of investment stories and information. My post, In Defense of Budgets, is under the Saving and Budgeting category. This carnival was eye-opening to me because…

  • FiveCentNickel: Beware the Siren Song of Gift Cards. I had NO IDEA before reading this post that so many gift cards go unspent. It makes sense but still… eek. Having said that, I have a $16 store credit at Barnes and Noble from returning a duplicate present that is STILL unspent… so um, yeah me too. Need to go use that ASAP. I was going to buy Harry Potter with it a while back but I was lazy and opted for the shorter line elsewhere. D’oh!

Finally, the Carnival of Money Stories made its way to Living off Dividends and my story, Experiments in Frugality: Disaster Number 2 was included! This story made me happy that I’ve pretty much sworn off shopping as much as I possibly can:

Visit the festival and carnivals and find your own favorites! There is lots of great information packed into each one.
