A Contest Winner and Featured Carnival! Stick Around for a Review of Stories and Risk

Last week, Millionaire Mommy Next Door ran a contest in her hosting of the Carnival of Personal Finance in which the readers voted for their favorite entries. I am shocked, amazed, and proud to say that my entry received the second most votes and therefore will win a prize from MMND’s list! Thank you to all the readers and y’all can probably guess that I chose to write a guest post for MMND as my prize. I will have to get right on thinking up the perfect topic. :) If you missed my entry, it was Financial Incentives To Being Healthy (For Insurance Purposes, Anyway) in which I talked about the new incentive plan my spouse’s employer is running that can reduce his premiums paid - as long as he meets certain health criteria or enters a program to work towards them. Thank you again for the votes and I am truly honored and frankly, thrilled. :cheer:

Also in exciting news for me and the blog, yesterday the Festival of Frugality hosted here was Blog Carnival’s Featured Carnival of the Day! You can see the featured carnival listed on the top right corner of the Blog Carnival homepage (today’s is the Making Money Online carnival). This in the grand scheme of things means very little but it still was very exciting for me. Yay!

Along with the Festival of Frugality, several other carnivals went live yesterday, two of which I had a submission in. The first is the Carnival of Money Stories, which made its way to Moolanomy for the first time. My post Frugal Fall Fun - Raking Leaves was included in the Frugal Stories section. I am still thinking about this story:

For the first time, I entered the Cavalcade of Risk because last week I wrote a post about (health insurance) risk, High Deductible Health Insurance vs A Traditional Plan - For Us. This week the cavalcade made its way to My Wealth Builder, and I also enjoyed this entry:

I hope you find your own favorites from these awesome carnivals! Share them with me too :).

  1. Congratulations on your second place finish! Looking forward to reading your guest post.

  2. Heh…I got a wide array of responses from that issue…but my conclusion is…occasional returns are okay but don’t go crazy and abuse the system. The fact I felt sort of guilty shows me that I probably shouldn’t take returning items to such an extreme!
