Tell All Tuesday - First Blog Snowflakes
So this week, we had a whole lot of money come in that we weren’t really expecting at the beginning of the month. As I said last week, I negotiated a few long-term advertisements on the blog, including but not limited to the Prosper referral button you can see in my sidebar. Long term means that the income I generated from the advertisements won’t be repeated for a very long time, but, at the same time, all in all, it made for a nice snowflake I wasn’t expecting. We also got our reimbursement check from our trip this Friday, $600 for mileage and my spouse’s meals, which was also very exciting and basically saved our October budget. More on that in my October wrapup later this week.On to the current debt numbers:
- Credit Card: $4,235.91 (made $23.20 and $500 snowflakes this past week)
- Student loan: $11,958.34
- Spouse student loan: $12,155.93
- Car loan: $3782.67
Debt at start of blog (6/19/07) : $36,451.71
Current debt total as of 10/30/07: $32,132.85 (principal paid to date $4,318.86)
% paid according to NCN Network Chart: 11.85% (last week 10.41%)
Total paid to principal over $4000!!!! The % on my NCN Network chart has also gone up a full percentage point. Yeehaw!
As you can see, I made a small snowflake on 10/24 of $23.20, which was all from survey payments. I then made a large snowflake on 10/26 of $500! That snowflake was all from blog-related income. My very first blog related income, a compilation of a few random sources and several long term advertising deals. But it is very exciting to me to be able to make a large snowflake and also for the blog to have enabled me to do so. Any and all income I earn from the blog will be going to debt repayment (minus the amount I save for taxes) and it was really very exciting for me to make good on that promise I made to myself and have some income to use for that purpose. And being able to knock back the debt $500 at one time was also very very exciting for me. Don’t expect this to be happening every month… I wish, but I don’t see that as reality. But some income is starting to trickle in and in the next few months I may start to set some goals for myself as far as how much I would like to be able to snowflake every month from blog-related sources. I am starting to think I might be able to finish off this credit card debt before August 2008 after all.
As far as other snowflaking, I did set a goal for myself of $100 per month from alternative income sources, and with this $500 payment I far surpassed that this month. Which is good because I was only at $32.90 from any other sources (all surveys). I did not manage to sell anything through craigslist this month even though I did make listings and had a lot of supposedly interested parties contact me through email…. none of them followed through. I think I may be taking a bit of a break from craigslist for now and looking into any other ways I might be able to sell things. On the other hand, surveys are going well and I have $40 more in payments still pending I will be able to snowflake once they arrive. That will be a very nice start to November!

That’s amazing! I am very impressed. Way to go with putting that extra blog income right to the debt, too!
