Sunday Morning Link Love: Under the Weather Edition
Still feeling under the weather here - hoping to kick this cold to the curb soon! My spouse has been great about letting me veg in bed as much as possible, it is too bad that I’m not enjoying all my unusual downtime since I feel so cruddy. Isn’t that always the way….
Before I start the link love, I wanted to announce something really cool. On October 8th, each member of the M-Network, including me, will be posting their best and worst financial decisions on their respective sites at 10am. Take your guess at what worst one I’ll pick, and you can find out something I think I did well too. At this point in my life, there are more candidates for worst, lol. Keep your eyes peeled for it!
On to the linkish love.
My favorite post of the week isn’t a post, it is a series. The Dough Roller ran a series this week of Chess and the Art of Personal Finance and I thoroughly enjoyed every installment. It actually showed me that some of my failings as a serious chess player do really carry over into my problems with personal finance management. Insightful, to say the least. I recommend the entire series.
More great posts from the M-Network and beyond:
- Being Frugal: Why Have Americans Become so Overindulgent? Frugal living can become a wanted lifestyle choice, even when it is born out of necessity.
- Moolanomy: True Earning Power and the True Cost of Luxuries. A very informative perspective if you think about buying something extravagant as “It only cost me X hours to make that money”.
- Christian PF: How I Organize My Bank Accounts. A straightforward and uncomplicated way of managing finances - I like it! Someday I will reach a place of well-oiled simplicity….
- Gather Little By Little: Patience is a virtue. Yes it is - and I have too little of it. Which segues right into my next pick….
- The Simple Dollar: Patience. I can completely relate to this. I think I am this. I seriously lack patience, especially when it seems things are slow going. I need feedback and rewards… but I shouldn’t. Patience.
- Money Smart Life: Should You Improve Your Life or Watch Television? I’m happy that I watch a lot less TV than I used to, and I multitask by folding the laundry during my one hour a week of “appointment” TV. But I can’t cut the cord completely…
- Cheap Healthy Good: Of Sisters and Soup. I can’t wait to try this soup. My spouse when reading this is going to cry realizing I am going to make him eat this soup. He’ll live. He needs more veggies. And the story is sweet too. (My spouse wants to eat like your sister, Kris).
- Mighty Bargain Hunter: Add A Windfall to Your Snowball. I want a windfall! Every time we’ve had some sort of windfall we’ve been frivolous with it. I want a windfall *now* to show how responsible I can be. I guess my spouse’s three-paycheck month in November is kind of (but not completely) like a windfall, and I have a plan to be good with that….
- Advanced Personal Finance: Things My Toddler Taught Me About Money. I can completely relate, my toddler is constantly teaching me some very important life lessons I somehow forgot along the way….
- A Penny Closer: The Psychology of Free. I love free stuff. I also find it hard to resist. I am getting better…. but I’m not cured yet.
That’s all I have the energy for this week, the cold is beating me down.
Must go over to Kroger and stock up on some on-sale staples and start my coupon-buying experiment….
