Sunday Morning Link Love 9/8/7 (cool date!)
I’m totally worn out from working at and competing in a taekwondo tournament yesterday, so I’ll just get right to the great posts from the M-Network and beyond!
My favorite post this week (of all time) is What I Learned from the 2001 New England Patriots at Lazy Man and Money. I have been a Patriots fan my entire life (I grew up in the northeast, it is in my blood) and this post combines my love for football with my love of financial lessons. A great read. I may print it and hang it in my house. Right next to my very rare “New England Patriots Superbowl XX Champions” pennant.
Other posts I particularly enjoyed:
Plonkee Money: What is one of the most important skills you need for good personal finance? I guarantee you already have it.
Gather Little By Little: Why Personal Finance is like Driving a Car. Excellent analogy that related important personal finance principles in a really approachable way.
Financial Dominance: What is the 4% rule? I learn something more about retirement from Brian every day. I had heard of this 4% thing but now I understand it a whole lot better.
DebtFREE-Revolution: Paying Bills is Fun Now. I don’t get quite as much enjoyment out of paying bills but I am a huge believer in a budget, and I do actually enjoy paying my credit card bill and seeing the number shrink.
Money Smart Life: Retirement: It’s Like Being 18 Only With Money. That headline would totally catch my eye too! Wait… it did catch my eye….
Fiveberries In Texas: Family Breakfast. I’m inspired… I want to have family breakfasts. Except I am lazy and like sleep.
Simply Us: Lessons Learned (AKA Murphy Enters Stage Left). A real life illustration of the importance of an emergency fund. I’ve been on an emergency fund kick lately.
That’s the roundup for this week! Hope you find something fascinating! ![]()

Thanks for the link, gal. You’re consistently one of my favorites. Though I keep checking to see how you did at the grocery store on Saturday! Inquiring minds, you know!
Thanks again, and I hope you try the breakfasts - it’s fun (oh, and I’m lazy, too and like to sleep in. That’s been the hardest thing to overcome.)

I was at a tournament all day yesterday so I actually have not been to the grocery store yet lol. I should have warned people
I’m leaving as soon as I get the little one down for a nap so check back in a few hours!

Glad I could help you understand the 4% rule a bit better.
I think our blogs complement each other quite well - yours is more “how to save money” (which I am horrible at) and mine is more “what to do with it once you have it” (which I do ok at).
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Brian that means a lot to me coming from you! I bookmark quite a lot of your posts in this “What I should think about once I have some money” mindset :).
