I’ve Paid For This Twice Already…

From financial imprisonment to financial independence, one snowflake at a time. This is one family’s story.

Sunday Morning Link Love 9/2/07

Welcome to the Labor Day weekend (for those in the US) edition of Sunday Morning Link Love. Hope everyone is having a fun weekend and gets to spend lots of time with their family and friends! My spouse has a rare 3 day weekend so we are lazing about, preparing for my son’s return to preschool tomorrow. Without further ado, here are some of the great articles written this past week by other personal finance bloggers!

My favorite post this week is at Five Cent Nickel and supports my theory that Capital One is evil: Capital One - Intentionally Harming Credit Scores? I never could figure out why Capital One didn’t report my credit limit. Sadly, my high balance was very close to my limit… so for me it didn’t make too much difference. But still. Glad I am leaving you! Sad I need to keep you open for longevity of my report.

Here are some of the best of the M-Network this week:

Plonkee talks about the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland paying off their debt from 1945 to the US and Canada at the end of 2006, and I found it a fascinating read.

Gather Little By Little says Reduce Your Expenses by Avoiding Temptation and I agree! Stay away from Target! ;) (I’m going today though with a very specific list and I hope to survive ;) ).

Being Frugal is organized! Or at least, she gives off that organized air. This post about organization is so thorough that almost a week later, I am still working my way through it!

Financial Dominance shows us a machine that scares the pants off me. I think I am not a very fast new technology adopter. This little machine could make carrying credit cards a thing of the past.

Moolanomy explains how to beat the S&P 500! Well, how he did at least. Could you too? Read and find out!

New M-Network member Christian Personal Finance talks about how Money Doesn’t Solve Problems. I may be biased, but I honestly feel money would solve a lot of my problems ;). But I understand you have to do the work and really get your finances in order and understand them before a money influx would help truly fix things.

Three ongoing series began this week that particularly interested me:

No Credit Needed began 33 days and 33 ways to save money and reduce debt, and invited bloggers to join in with him, and I took the invitation! I’ve been writing reaction posts to each of his suggestions, because I think the topics are so sound and true to my own experiences. Eliminating debt is what this blog is all about, after all, paidtwice style :).

Clever Dude began a very thought-provoking series on Examining Your Motives for very core things like home buying, jobs, and having children. Really deep discussions we all should have. Oh and as an aside, look who’s in his feed reader (scroll down to number 30). I promise he’s in mine too!

The Simple Dollar starts a series on The One Hour Project. It will be 30 one-hour projects that will change your financial life for the better. I’m really intrigued and can’t wait. And congrats on the new arrival Trent!

A number of articles I found particularly interesting for a variety of reasons:

Scary: Money, Matter, and More Musings exposed a credit card that is just downright frightening. No matter how bad your credit is, this credit card is not worth it!

Blogging: Brip Blap gives 10 tips for new bloggers. I’m new, and I enjoyed it!

Priorities: Advanced Personal Finance talks about other tradeoffs than just money in a long commute. I agree, and I’m glad that neither my spouse and I have one any more.

Success: Wise Bread gives tips for Defining Success: If you don’t know what you want, you won’t know when you’ve gotten it. So true! This gives suvh practical ways to realize what you want out of life or a situation.

Organization: Get Rich Slowly goes towards paperless… and I love it! Paperless is an ultimate goal of mine.

That’s all (whew!) for this week. I try to make the list short but then I can’t bear to cut anything. I hope you find something that strikes your fancy within this list.
