I’ve Paid For This Twice Already…

Snowflaked $23.62 to Capital One, I should feel more excited

I think my lack of motivation extends beyond Craigslist and really is just a general lull kind of feeling in regards to my finances and making any noticeable progress.  I almost forgot to even check to see if the paypal transfer had posted yet so I could do this snowflake.  And a month ago I would have been checking 5 times a day.

The honeymoon is over!  Heh.

I was really motivated and excited for a while, and right now I just feel blah.   The reality of everything is setting in.  This is a whole lot of debt and it is going to take a good long time to make any real headway on it.  At first I was so excited because December 2010 just sounded SO much sooner than I ever hoped we could be out of debt by.  But now it seems like eons away.  We *are* making progress, good progress, but it feels really slow right now I guess.  And there are so many days of downtime where progress isn’t really happening interspersed with little flurries of activity.

I’m so moody.

I need to start appreciating each day in and of itself for what it is.  Find the little milestones and progress markers in each individual day.  Maybe one day I didn’t spend any money at all.  Maybe one day I sold something to make a snowflake with or got a check for taking online surveys.  Maybe one day I just did a little better with something financial than I expected to.

Little things.  Little things.

I’ve got a long way to go and I can’t wish away every day there isn’t any active progress to be made or I’ll miss too much of the life going on around me.   I need to learn to appreciate all the little baby steps and each moment of the journey.  I also need to set some more goals and keep myself accountable and find those goals that will create motivation in myself.  Now if I just knew what those goals were….

Eliminate credit card debt by December 2008.  That’s closer at least.  But that’s a stretch from the original plan so I’ll have to find ways to make even more progress than I have been.  A challenge… that’ll either work or make me even more cranky.

I’ll adjust for the cranky if necessary.  ;)

I started something to help me visualize my debt, and be able to see it actually going down. You remember those paper chains you made in elementary school? The loops of construction paper? I made one for my credit card debt. Each link is worth $100. Whenever I get below the amount listed on a link, I can cut it off. So while I feel like I’m making little progress, I can see visually that I am. Plus I made each set of 10 a different color, so I can tell you I’m done with the reds, and the whites are almost gone! I get such satisfaction from it even if it is silly looking in my bedroom.

Would you mind sharing what survey sites you use? I’m interested in getting into it, but don’t know where to start and what sites are reputable.

  2. That link thing sounds like a good idea. I need to do *something* to rev up my motivation again. :)
Sure, I can share survey sites. I’ll send you a referral email from the one I use the most, mysurvey.com. Just because you will get 150 bonus points (1000 points = $10) for signing up through a referral link. (I get 150 points too lol).

If anyone else reading wants a mysurvey.com referral, just email me (contact info on contact me tab above).

you are also welcome to sign up yourself without the referral of course :).

I also use your2cents.com, lightspeedpanel.com and opinionoutpost.com. Opinion outpost has a referral program too but I think it just benefits the referer not the referee. I can send you one of those too though. Lightspeed is points and like 1150 points equals $10, 2cents and outpost are cash and minimum cashout is $5 I think.

Those are the main ones. There are a few I do that randomly send me surveys once in a blue moon so I never remember them until they send something. I know two of them are fgiresearch.com and ncop.com. Those generally will pay $1-4 per survey to paypal or a check directly after completion (no minimum cashout) but there aren’t a whole lot of surveys.

I found most of the companies I tried through this link:

I’ll take all the referrals you have. I’d love to give you credit for referring me.
If I use the link in the mysurvey.com email you had sent, will you get referral credit?
    Thanks!

  4. If you use the link in the email I sent from MySurvey you will get the 150 points and I will too.

I will send you an Opinion Outpost referral too.

I don’t think any of the others have referral bonuses but I will check and send an email to you if they do. I don’t really do any of the pyramid type ones where you earn money from what referrals do. But MySurvey and Opinion Outpost give a one time referral credit for sending a friend to them.

I’ll get them sent out tonight. I may do a post this weekend or next week of all the different ones I’ve tried if I get organized. lol

  5. I think having something visual to show your progress is a great idea.

Another is to have a buddy (a friend, family member, online buddy), who you can share your progress with, who gets excited for you, and who can be there to remind you of why you’re doing what you do and can motivate you.
