The Waiting Game

It is not quite the end of the month yet, but my spending is done, I hope. I’ve done the grocery shopping for the week, and I can only think of one thing I may spend money on before August 1st. I bought a garden hose to extend our sprinkler, and apparently, garden hoses have lead in them. I didn’t know, and I didn’t know I needed to look for a “safe for drinking” rated one. We don’t drink from them, but our son runs through the sprinkler, and it just seems wrong to have a hose that is unsafe for drinking hooked up to it. I need to return that hose tomorrow, and I may buy a replacement for it then, or I may wait until the weekend depending on the selection available. Since I bought it at Walmart I am guessing I am not going to find a suitable replacement there and I won’t actually spend any more money on that until August.

Other than that, I don’t think I have anything I need to spend money on before August 1st. Will I make it? Are my final budget numbers done? Can I go three days without spending any money?

I hope so. I should have $210.69 left over from our income when all is said and done to transfer to the emergency savings fund. Since I know my checking account actually has a little extra in it, I am going to round it up slightly and transfer $215 when my spouse gets his first August paycheck on the 10th. So the emergency fund will stand at $865 at that point if all goes as planned.

I have my fingers crossed.
