Groceries, Deconstructed
Life isn’t as interesting when I don’t buy random impulse purchases. Or at least, there’s less to post about. I’ll have to start buying more of them. ![]()
I did not buy any random impulse items today. I think the internal pressure of trying to get the month’s budget in line got to me ;). And, Walmart made a mistake when ringing me up that I did not notice on my receipt until I got home. Argh! They double charged me for allergy medicine and didn’t charge me at all for the 6-pack of yogurt for the kids. I guess the cashier scanned one item twice and missed an item all at the same time (they were next to each other when waiting to be rung up). The allergy medicine cost $0.99 more than the yogurt and is taxable, where the yogurt is not, so basically I was overcharged $1.04. This will be important later. Walmart is bent on thwarting my budget! I usually check my receipt right there as it is rung up but I was distracted today for some reason. Oh well. I paid a $1.04 stupid tax today.
Anyway. I spent $42.82 at Aldi today and $29.93 at Walmart for groceries (including the mistake) for a total of $72.75. So $2.25 under budget! :cheer: For the entire month, I spent $300.82 which is only $0.82 over budget for July. Without the mistaken $1.04… I would have been under budget for July. Bah!
However, Walmart was completely out of Diet Mountain Dew 2-liters (because they are on sale, of course) and I need to buy one sometime before Thursday for my spouse to take to work. So, with that (they are on sale for $1 each plus tax) that would have been my missing $1.04 plus 2 cents. Heh. Although if they had had them, I wouldn’t have had to buy the more expensive 24 oz bottles for the beginning of the week for him so… it kind of all shakes out.
So the grocery budget went well this month. We’ll see what next month brings :).
