Speaking of my pantry
Since really trying to get a firm handle on the grocery spending this month, I’ve been basically cutting out the vast majority of “extras” I used to buy. For *me*. I guess I find it easiest to cut out my own stuff rather than stuff for my spouse or kids.
I may have to re-evaluate that strategy. It used to take until Thursday or Friday for me to be scrounging around muttering about how there’s nothing anywhere for me to eat (I shop on Saturday). This week it started on Monday, and I am still scrounging.
One positive side benefit is that I’ve been “shopping in my pantry” a lot over the past few weeks and coming up with new things to make out of what’s in there. I guess it is part of the whole decluttering/scaling down process, but I have been able to really clear out a lot of what is in there and make myself some tasty food in the process.
But even a well-stocked pantry (and mine… well stocked. I am kind of a hoarder if you can’t tell) will run out eventually, and I don’t think my pantry is going to compensate for my scaled down shopping list forever.
Maybe long enough for us to get out of debt though. Heh.

funny, i’ve recently gotten back to doing that too, … shopping at home. i even blogged about it here http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/PeakmoreAcademy/357867/
mainly just because i don’t have the kitchen storage room to hoard away food items, but also to save on our grocery budget. (why spend $$ on something i don’t need right now)
