I’ve Paid For This Twice Already…

From financial imprisonment to financial independence, one snowflake at a time. This is one family’s story.

I “miscellaneous” a lot more than I thought

When I set up my budget, I put $10 a month in the “miscellaneous” category.

Okay, some of you seasoned budget pros are already laughing.

I really thought I’d covered most if not all of the various categories I would spend in somewhere else in my budget and I didn’t think I really needed a miscellaneous category at all.

Well, it is July 7th, and although most of the other budget categories are right on track… miscellaneous is overspent by about $8 already.

I bought batteries midweek and decided to “miscellaneous” them instead of put them in the grocery category, and then today I needed to pick up a little cake and ice cream for a small family party for my son. That I could not come up with anywhere but miscellaneous to stick it.

So… I’ve got some learning to do about budgets. But I am learning. :)
Of course, the easier answer is…. stop spending money. I’m trying.  Promise.
