Things to budget for

Right now I am deciding if I am going to create a “catch-all” category called “annual expenses” and budget into that things like maintenence contracts on the furnace and a/c, car registration, HOA dues, etc instead of budgeting those things for the month they are due or over a twelve month period.

I wonder if I would be successful at micro-managing the savings enough that the money will be there when I need it. In either scenario. I tended before to budget them when they are due and just feel a crunch in other things that month. It doesn’t help that I myself am an independent contractor so my take-home fluctuates month to month, which allowed me to be sloppy.

That’s today’s thing to ponder, at least.
